None of that matters to Beth Smith. In 1917, her boyfriend Garan Schmidt enlisted in the Army—and left her pregnant. She left home and built a new life for herself and their daughter.
When Garan finds Beth and their daughter in May 1919, he is eager to make amends and start over. Beth is unsure is she is ready to tell the truth that will set them free.

SECOND FRIDAY RECIPE 12 JUNE 2015

SECOND FRIDAY RECIPE 12 June 2015

Welcome to June's  edition of  SECOND FRIDAY RECIPE. On the second Friday of each month, I've invited a fellow author to share a favorite recipe with us and maybe a little something about their latest book. This week Donna Robinson let's us in on one of her faves. And, I have to tell you, I'm intrigued enough that my co-workers will be sampling these very soon!!

Tropical Brownies

 Batter:
In a large bowl, cream together:
    1 cup butter
    1½ cups sugar
Add, and beat with an electric mixer until fluffy:
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
Add, and mix:
    2 cups flour
    1½ tsp. baking powder
    1½ tsp. cinnamon

Measure 1½ cups batter and put in a second bowl. Add 1 can (20 oz.) crushed pineapple, drained well. Set aside.

Melt 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave at 30-second intervals. Stir until completely melted. Add to the first bowl and mix well. With a spoon, stir in ½ cup chopped pecans.

Spread ¾ of the chocolate batter across the bottom of a well-greased 9x13 pan. Spread the pineapple batter over this layer. Drop remaining chocolate batter in small spoonfuls over the pineapple layer. Spread carefully with a knife. (If it doesn’t completely cover, leave some of the pineapple batter showing around the edges.)

Bake at 350 degrees for 38 – 40 minutes. Test with a toothpick. Cool and cut into bars.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU FRIDAY 5 JUNE 2015

GETTING TO KNOW YOU FRIDAY JUNE 2015

Welcome to June and getting to know you Friday. On the first Friday of each month I want us to take the time to get to know each other a little better. I'll post something you might not know about me and ask you to share.

THE END OF AN ERA

AVON

Can you find me in this picture? No...

Probably because I'm not in that picture, but I could have been, because for the last twenty-five years I've been an AVON representative. (Or the Ding Dong Lady as some of the husbands called me.)

You know, six years ago I had my life all planned out. I'd complete my time at my government job, retire at the age of sixty-five, and open a little AVON store. I'd use my earnings to supplement my retirement, all would be happy and calm in my little corner of the world.

That was my plan.

It was a great plan.

It wasn't God's plan!

So after twenty-five years and WAY  sooner than I expected, I retired from my AVON business last month.  I'm having a bit of an issue adjusting to the extra time. I'm having to retrain my mind NOT to think about delivery and order schedules. But the good news is I'm already using some of the extra time to write.

Writing...

That seems to be God's plan for my future. It's a good thing I'm good with that.

So here is my question for you. Have you ever spent a lot of time working toward something, only to have God redirect you. Please share with us if you're comfortable doing so.

WILD CARD 1 June 2015

Welcome to our June 1st WILD CARD POST. I was out of town on Friday so we are running a few days late with this week's post.

I've asked my friend and fellow Oklahoma author Julie Jarnagin to share something fun with us this week.

Take it away Julie:

I’m excited to be here today! To celebrate the recent release of my novel, Kiss the Cowboy, let’s do a scavenger hunt for a $5 Amazon gift card.

You can find all the answers at www.JulieJarnagin.com and the Amazon pages for Kiss the Cowboy and my novella, The Art of Falling.

1.    Which book of mine is currently FREE!
2.    What animal am I afraid of?
3.    What is the name of the hero in Kiss the Cowboy?
4.    Tell me something interesting about yourself.

Add all your answers in the comments with your email address, and we’ll draw one winner. Thanks for playing!

What if your competition for your dream job…was your dream man?

All Lucy Pickett needs to become executive chef in one of Dallas’s finest restaurants is to pull off the high-profile wedding she’s catering. So what if she’s forced to share duties with Dylan Lawson, a modern-day chuck-wagon cook? So what if he’s got rugged looks and cowboy charm? None of that is going to knock her off her game. Until she learns the restaurateur is considering Dylan for the position she wants. Game on–and it’s a winner-take-all event!

Dylan Lawson finally has the opportunity he’s been waiting for to prove he can do more than just be a ranch hand. The only thing standing in his way is the fiery chef fighting for the same position. Will the heated competition scorch any chance they have for love?
