GETTING TO KNOW YOU FRIDAY August 2015

GETTING TO KNOW YOU FRIDAY August 2015

Welcome to August and getting to know you Friday. On the first Friday of each month I want us to take the time to get to know each other a little better. I'll post something you might not know about me and ask you to share.

Well, that was the plan anyway. What I really need is your help.

This is a picture of my living room. The couch and love seat are fifteen years old, and while there isn't a thing wrong with them, I need a change. Do you ever get that way? Sick to death of looking at the same thing?  I'm there!!

So, I went shopping tonight, just to look, because like I said, it's been fifteen years and I needed a handle on what was out there and the going price in 2015 versus 2000. I found several sets I liked, but nothing that screamed PICK ME!!!

Then I thought, I have an audience, I'll let them help. Are you up for it?

SET ONE

SET TWO

SET THREE

So your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to narrow the field. Which of these three living room sets do you like?

  1. It all has to do with individual tastes and you are going to get every choice under the sun. Personally, I am all about light and brightening your space. Since you are wanting to rid yourself of the dark couches, I think the first set is the best choice. They look beautiful in the picture. The second couch set is too similar to your older set. Again, a personal choice, but I don't care for sectionals. So, I am already biased against the third choice. Also, it is still a bit dark.

The first choice wins it for me. It looks ultra-comfy and good quality, as well.

    1. Yes, the opinions will all be different, that's the fun part. I like choice #1 as well.

  2. I really like set number one. It looks to be the most plush and comfy. Plus it fits in best with your decor. I think light is better for brightening up a home. Number two is just like what you have now. And I just don't like number three for you...doesn't look like that room. That's my opinion.

    1. Tonya, choice # 3 seems to be the clear winner so far.

  3. I like set 1...it's so much lighter than your current set, it will really brighten up your space. From the pictures, set 2 looks just about like your current set & set 3...not crazy about the light/dark mixture. P. S. Good luck with your sticker shock too!! ;)

    1. Robin, there wasn't much sticker shock. I looked at mattresses and a kitchen table as well, and I had a budget in mind. I only exceeded it by 20.00 either way I go. God is good!

  4. Set #1 but I'd brighten up a bit more with colorful pillows instead of beige.

    1. Robin, I loved the sectional as well. It's such a hard decision. I lived with the black for 15 years, so this is a long term commitment for me.

  6. Set 2, except with different toss pillows, something with a prominent design or several bright colors.

  7. I like set #1 if you're going for a change. I agree #2 looks too similar and I personally don't like #3.

  8. I think it depends on if you want a change of style or color, or both. If it's just a change of color, go with #1. If you want a change of style and color, go with #3.
#2 looks a lot like what you already have. Be sure the fabric is easy clean.

  9. Hi Sharon. I like #2 best. I have you best. Some of my furniture is as old as my youngest daughter. She was born in 1961. We moved here in this town, Pasadena, TX. when she was 6 mod old. It is a bedroom suit that also has been through a flood, in KS. Still looks good. Also had the same dining set until we moved back here to TX from KS. Only reason we don't still have it is because this mobile home didn't have a space large enough. It was still so pretty. It was 35 years old. my turn is 54 years, 49 years, 35 yeas, and 29 years. Even the 2 bedspreads are 29 and 21 years old. They are all tn good condition so never felt like I needed new. Especially when I saw the prices.
Good luck on your new furniture. Maxie > mac262(at)me(dot)com <

  10. I'd go for Set 1. It is a big change and you can dress it up with any color pillows to change it through the years.
